About Me
Hi, I’m Miyabi — a Japanese girl and a mother of two little boys.
I studied psychology at university, with a special interest in language psychology.
Combining my academic background and parenting experience, I created this website and a YouTube channel to help people learn Japanese in a natural and enjoyable way.
On YouTube, I focus on helping viewers “see, hear, and feel” Japanese — just like how children in Japan learn language through repetition and context. Subtitles are minimal, and many videos are story-based for fun and immersive learning.
Japanese can be complex with its formal speech and written language, but my channel emphasizes basic vocabulary, simple conversations, and practical usage before diving into grammar or honorifics. It’s great for beginners, and even intermediate learners will benefit from exposure to real, living Japanese.
Here on the website, I explain things in writing — including the subtle meanings and natural expressions that only a native speaker can teach.
I hope my content helps you on your Japanese learning journey.
I am Japanese and a native Japanese speaker, but my English is at an intermediate level.
I can read English fairly well, but writing is not my strong point.
I can also understand spoken English, but I struggle with speaking it myself.
I often use translation apps when writing in English, so I apologize if some expressions sound a bit awkward.
